With 1.2 trillion searches occurring on Google each year, it is imperative to have a strong local marketing strategy that incorporates Google My Business (GMB). To ensure you're always up-to-date and leveraging all that GMB has to offer, the Brandify team has compiled the latest GMB updates.
User-Generated Photos and Videos
You can now retrieve and view insights for user-generated photos and videos for locations you own and manage, including number of views per photo and video. You can also subscribe to notifications and be alerted when Google users post new content on your listings, including photos added to reviews.
Google has added tools to make it easier for listing management platforms to manage account permissions.
"From the Business" Description
You can now add a brief description of your company including what you do, what you offer and what makes you unique. This is meant to be a short description of your business in your own voice that will show under a "From the Business" tab in the listing. This will not replace the description in the listings today, but will appear alongside it.
Some tips to consider when crafting your description:
-750 character limit
-Should be objective, not too marketing-esque
-Do not stuff with keywords
-Do not include URLs
-Do not include HTML
The business description can show up in the local knowledge panel, in search, or in Google Maps results.
Provide the date that your location opened for business. This date will not be published by Google, but could be used to create a "New Business" badge for businesses that have recently opened.
A new feature for Posts where a coupon or offer can be shown to help customers find deals available at your locations.
